Mary Lou Retton is talking out for the primary time since her DUI arrest final month, issuing a heartfelt apology and vowing to make significant adjustments in her life.

In a press release shared on Tuesday, the previous Olympic gymnast says, “I take full accountability for my actions. What occurred was fully unacceptable. I make no excuses. To my household, buddies and my followers: I’ve allow you to down, and for that I’m deeply sorry.”

The 57-year-old went on to say she’s “decided to study and develop from this expertise, and I’m dedicated to creating optimistic adjustments in my life.”

She appeared in court docket on Tuesday and entered a no contest plea to a first-time, non-aggravated DUI cost. She was ordered to pay a $100 effective.
