Patrick Walden, the guitarist for British group Babyshambles, has died on the age of 46.
Babyshambles, fronted by Pete Doherty, introduced Walden’s dying on social media in a joint assertion. “It’s with deep remorse and disappointment that we share the information of Patrick Walden’s dying,” reads the submit. “We really feel very lucky to have recognized/beloved and labored with him and we kindly ask for respect and privateness throughout these troublesome instances.” No reason for dying was given.
Walden, a London native, had a short-lived stint with Babyshambles, which Doherty shaped in 2004 after he was kicked out of the Libertines for drug abuse. He joined the group as lead guitarist alongside Doherty on vocals, Drew McConnell on bass and Gemma Clarke on drums, and co-wrote six songs on the band’s 2005 debut “Down in Albion” together with “Fuck Perpetually,” “Pipedown” and “Loyalty Tune.”
“Down in Albion” was a reasonable success within the U.Okay., peaking at No. 10 on the charts. “Fuck Perpetually” grew to become the group’s greatest single, reaching No. 4 on the U.Okay. singles chart.
Walden, who had beforehand performed in bands together with Fluid and White Sport, left the group in 2005 after coping with drug abuse and accusations of assaulting his girlfriend, which led to a short incarceration. The fees had been inevitably dropped.
Through the years, he would pop in for performances with Babyshambles, although he by no means formally rejoined the band. He was not current for a Babyshambles reunion that passed off final 12 months, and it was unclear if he could be becoming a member of the group for future performances.
