James Gunn is opening up about letting Henry Cavill go from the DCU.

Throughout a current look on the “Completely satisfied Unhappy Confused” podcast, the “Superman” director defined that as his deal to take over DC Studios closed, it was introduced that Cavill would reprise his position because the Man of Metal. Nonetheless, in response to Gunn, it was already on paper that he would helm a brand new Superman movie with a brand new actor, which created an “unfair” state of affairs for Cavill.

“The day our [DC] deal closed, rapidly, they have been asserting that Henry was again,” Gunn stated. “And I’m like, ‘What’s going on?’ We all know what the plan is. The plan was to return in and do ‘Superman.’ So it was actually unfair to him and a complete bummer.”

Gunn added that the miscommunication was attributable to a sector of the studio making an attempt to “power” their very own imaginative and prescient of DC, which was “by no means a part of the equation.”

“That was actually unlucky,” Gunn continued. “So Peter and I [thought] the precise factor to do was to sit down down with [Cavill] and speak to him. And we sat down and we talked to him. He was an absolute gentleman, an important man about it. He stated, ‘The one factor I ask is that I’m in a position to reveal it myself versus it coming from you guys.’”

When requested by host Josh Horowitz if it will be “too complicated” to solid Cavill in one other DCU position, Gunn stated, “Completely not.”

“I talked to him about it on that day,” Gunn added. “I’d like to put Henry in one thing.”
