Italy’s Teresa Cavina has been appointed creative director of Malta’s Mediterrane Movie Competition the second version of which is able to run June 22-30 in Valletta, the island’s capital.
Cavina, who has over twenty years of expertise in programming and creative director roles at festivals together with Locarno, El-Gouna, Rome, Venice and Abu Dhabi, is structuring the Mediterrane fest’s choice in 4 programming strands: In Competitors, that includes movies from throughout the Mediterranean; Out of Competitors, that includes movies from the remainder of the world; Mare Nostrum – ‘Our Sea’, showcasing narrative and documentary movies devoted to sustainability and the surroundings; and Future Visions – a choice of experimental VR initiatives.
The Mediterrane fest’s inaugural pilot version final yr featured a complete of 24 movies, 9 of which competed for the Golden Bee Awards.
