Walter E. Calmette, Sr., a movie gross sales and acquisition government who oversaw enterprise affairs for Felix the Cat, died Jan. 6. He was 85.
After emigrating to the U.S. from Peru in 1958, Calmette, Sr. received his begin within the leisure enterprise at Movies Included whereas placing himself via faculty half time. At Movies Included, he traveled to school campuses to selll movies, ultimately overseeing the Hollywood workplace for the Chicago-based firm.
In 1980 he moved to Avco Embassy Photos, the place he grew to become director and later VP of non-theatrical gross sales, incomes high gross sales honors with lodge and airline shoppers. He moved to New World Leisure in 1984 as Sr. VP of acquisitions, the place he continued working in ancillary gross sales, licensing and merchandising in addition to theatrical acquisitions.
